THE MRE STUDIOS
"welcome...to the sound of your ideas"
All Good Things Must Pass
A Farewell Commentary
The time has come to power down the gear, to turn off the lights and close the door for the final time. While medical realities are the reason for the closing of the physical entity that is the MRE Studios, the real heart and soul of the studio, the true driving force behind it continues strong, vibrant and with its spirit unabated -
It lies within each and every artist who has come through the door.
This studio was designed to help demystify recording technologies, to help the artist realize their music as they wanted it without the need of getting bogged down in the engineering details. To that end, I can take pride that the design worked, the concept flourished, and in the process I was able to be around some truly gifted musicians who chose to share their gifts of lyric and melody.
But it only worked because of the artists and their passions for what they were doing. I was always telling anyone within earshot that I had the best gig in the world - everyone I dealt with wanted to be where they were, happily ensconced in the studio. How many folks can claim that everyone they deal with in their workplace wants to be there?
So to all of you, the artists who made my dream of MRE Studios a reality, I raise my glass and give you a toast.
You are truly the best.
(Remember, as your engineer, I never lied to you.)
I'll be keeping the listening room open for a while, as well as updating it over the next few weeks, so stop in and hear the best music from talented artists. The listening room will also have the links to the artists websites - please visit them and give them your support.
Take care, stay well, and please never stop exploring the sound of your ideas.
The session is now over.
